A Place to Belong

His mother reflects on those early years: "He was probably around 7 or 8 when he first attended Kids Together. No other respite or social outlets would have been suitable for his profile. He was blessed that Kids Together took him under their wing. Back then there was very, very little available for his needs and behaviours. Kids Together's support was priceless for all my family." For Elijah, Kids Together has been his primary social outlet outside of school, here he is accepted, included, and able to build relationships in a way that meets his individual needs. The impact has extended beyond Elijah himself. For Elijah's family, Kids Together has provided vital respite and reassurance, when he’s here they know that he is safe, happy, and supported. This regular support has been invaluable for the whole family. His story demonstrates how providing consistent opportunities for connection and inclusion can transform not only the life of children like Elijah, but also the lives of those who care for them.
